The fifth auto dealership, located at 1 Ross Ave. since 1947, was the House of Foreign Car Imports Inc. Francis “Brud” Higgins was in charge of this enterprise. He had been previously employed by Seyffer Ford on Elm Street.
This dealership sold foreign-made cars exclusively. The new car line included Triumph, Volkswagen, Renault and Borgward. Foreign Car Imports, as it was called, also carried a wide array of domestic and foreign used vehicles.
On August 1, 1959, Philip Kay was shown as President of the business. He previously owned the Phillips Lincoln-Mercury dealership at this location, and continued to own the real estate he and his wife, Esther Kay, purchased in 1957.
The House of Foreign Car Imports disappeared from view in October 1959 after about 3 months of operation, and soon after, a new dealership, Cicotte Import Motors, started at this location. Its story will be revealed in Part 5 to follow.
